The Top Question Members Ask. |
"When can I go?"
To know when you can retire, you need to know which group you’re in. For KPERS, your hire date will typically reveal your group. But that may not be the case if you left employment and came back. KP&F benefits vary by each tier. |
Check the dates below. Then click your member group and select the "Retiring: When and How Much" tab to see when you can go. |

6 Signs You're in Good Financial Health |
|
|
We’re halfway through 2025, which means it’s a good time to check in on your finances. Knowing how to budget, manage debt and save for the future are the keys to financial wellness. How many of these can you check off? |
|
|
💲 I use a monthly budget. |
💳 I know how much debt I have and/or pay off my credit card each month, so I don't carry over debt. |
🚨 I have an emergency fund to cover at least 3 months of expenses. |
💯 I know my credit score and what it's based on. |
💰 I'm investing in a retirement account like KPERS 457 or an IRA. |
💫 I set goals for my money, check in and review those goals monthly, quarterly and annually. |
|
|
If there’s one or two you can’t check off, take time this month to do a little research on it. Then make a plan for how you can tackle it. |

Thank You to Our Outgoing Trustee |
Former Vice-Chairperson Ernie Claudel served as our elected School Trustee since 2013. KPERS honored him at the May Board meeting for his commitment to KPERS as a fiduciary by always putting the interest of our members first. We appreciate all the time and effort he devoted to KPERS over the last 12 years. |
About the Board |
KPERS Board members serve an important role as fiduciaries by overseeing the System’s operations and the investment program. Member-elected positions let KPERS members keep their voice in the Board room. KPERS’ board has nine trustees. Four are appointed by the governor, two are appointed by legislative leaders, one is the elected state treasurer and two are elected by members. All serve four-year terms. More on the KPERS Board. |
