KPERS has an exciting new project: building a new pension administration system. It will include a new Employer Web Portal (EWP) and a new Member Web Portal (MWP), among other updates and enhancements. We started the project in the fall of 2024 and have recently begun to work on employer-related areas. We expect the project to take about 5 years, so we’re looking at a 2029 rollout.
Why Is This Important to You?
We’ve had our current system for over 20 years. All of us – our agency, you, and your employees – need a new and improved system. One that's easier to use, faster, more efficient, and more dependable. One with more security and better data. And one with more tools for you and your employees to use. That’s what we’re creating now.
New Employer Web Portal (EWP)
One of the first things on our list is to begin building a new EWP. We’ve redesigned the EWP twice in the last 20 years, but we’re quickly outgrowing it. We don't have much to share yet, but we know there will be a new file format for pay reporting. The new EWP won't be ready to use until 2029. We will keep you informed and look forward to working with you over the next few years to make this happen.
Input From Experts
We have asked a few of your colleagues to partner with us to make the new EWP and our modernization efforts a success. To date, there are about 20 contacts at School, City and County employers serving on the Employer Reporting Panel (ERP). This team will give us feedback on the new format, training and rollout suggestions, and more. We also have a separate team working with State employers. Depending on the topic, we may have periodic surveys for all employers, too.
Training Is Key
When the time comes, we won't ask you to jump in with both feet. We'll offer training sessions, webinars, in-person seminars, videos, how-to documents and more. We want you to be comfortable with the new reporting environment and the new EWP. We will keep you updated as we go. Again, look for more to come on training in 2029.
