New Employer Contribution Rate

House Bill 2711
This new law raises the KPERS retiree death benefit to $6,000 (effective July 1, 2024). Due to this increase, current KPERS and KP&F contribution rates for local employers will go up slightly, effective January 1, 2025. Member rates will not change.

KPERS Employer Rate
Current Employer Rate: 9.26% through December 31, 2024
Rate for 2025 was previously set at 9.60%
Employer Rate Change due to HB 2711: +0.11%
New Employer Rate: 9.71%, effective January 1, 2025 (needs to be certified)
KP&F Employer Rate (if you have KP&F)
Current Employer Rate: 23.10% through December 31, 2024
Rate for 2025 was previously set at 24.61%
Employer Rate Change due to HB 2711: +0.06%
New Employer Rate: 24.67%, effective January 1, 2025 (needs to be certified)

Certifying Your Rates...Again
Because of this small rate change, your 2025 employer contribution rates (9.71% for KPERS and 24.67% for KP&F) will need to be recertified. See the How to Find Rates and How to Certify Rates below for
guidance.
Working After Retirement
The new working-after-retirement rate of 9.71% goes into effect January 1, 2025, The earnings threshold also changes from $25,000 to $40,000 (effective July 1, 2024). Look for a separate email with more details, soon.

Login to the Employer Web Portal (EWP).
Under Employer, click Employer Info.
Click EE/ER Rate tab.
Find new EE/ER Rates table.
