Vote for a Trustee in the KPERS Board Election This April |
Your retirement matters to you. KPERS is part of that. The KPERS Board of Trustees oversees Retirement System operations – how we carry out our mission of delivering retirement, disability and survivor benefits to our members and their beneficiaries. The Board also safeguards KPERS’ $28 billion Trust Fund. |
The KPERS Board Election only happens every four years, and only two of the nine board members are elected. Like you, candidates are members. Having elected trustees gives you a voice and keeps a member’s point of view in the board room. Candidates do not have to be financial experts. But they bring a unique perspective to the board room – yours. |
This April 1-30, you can select a fellow member to represent you and serve on the KPERS Board of Trustees. |

A Peek at Your Retirement - Member Annual Statements |
|
|
Each spring, the Retirement System sends you a member annual statement. It's a snapshot of your account as of December 31, 2024. If you’re vested, it can give you a good picture of your retirement future. You can also check your membership info like account balance, years of service and your beneficiaries.
Remember, KPERS is only one part of your retirement plan. Your personal savings also plays an important role. Looking at your KPERS estimates is a big step to see if you'll have enough. And it gives you some time to fill the gap if you have one.

Be on the Lookout for Potential Scammers |
|
|
These days, phone and impersonation scams are on the rise, particularly with the use of artificial intelligence.
Recently, KPERS has received reports of fraudulent calls where individuals claim to represent KPERS staff and ask members to provide personal information. Please keep in mind, KPERS may call you to request additional information about your account to process a beneficiary claim, withdrawal application or retirement application. We might need to verify your identity with your account details, Social Security number or other personal information.
If you receive an unexpected call, we recommend you ask for the person’s name, then call us back at 1-888-275-5737 and ask to speak with that representative.
In addition to phone scams, email scams are also prevalent. Remember to be careful when opening emails from people you don’t know. Never click on links in strange emails, especially if they say there is a problem with your computer, bank account or other benefits. These links can steal your personal information.
If you have been a victim of a scam, please be sure to report it to the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov. You can also file a complaint with the Kansas Attorney General’s office at https://www.ag.ks.gov/file-a-complaint. |
